Legendary: Swan armchair by Fritz Hansen
To celebrate its 150-year company history, manufacturer Fritz Hansen developed the anniversary collection "Forever New". This includes a careful selection of the most legendary designs of the last 150 years - and in new exciting looks.
It goes without saying that the famous Swan armchair by Arne Jacobsen should not be missing! For the first time, it is being launched on the market with a black coated swivel base and two exclusive cover fabrics. The icing on the cake is the anniversary plaque with which each Swan armchair is provided.
From theory to practice
The Swan armchair, like The Egg, was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the entrance areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Jacobsen was commissioned to design the hotel building with all its details as well as the complete interior of the building. This was also an opportunity for him to put his theories about furniture design into practice.
Material and format
Swan is 74 cm wide, 68 cm deep and 77 cm high. The seat height is 40 cm, the armrests are 58 cm high. The armchair consists of a plastic shell with a layer of cold foam and a swivel base made of black PVD-coated aluminium and steel. For the cover, you can choose from the following two anniversary versions:
- Grace leather - Chestnut: a brand new colour with a distinctive maroon shimmer, designed exclusively by Sørensen Leather for Fritz Hansen
- Fabric Vanir - Granite Brown: 92% virgin wool, 8% nylon; designed by fashion designer Raf Simons for Kvadrat and available exclusively at Fritz Hansen
