Celebrity: The Egg / Egg Chair Armchair Fritz Hansen
The Fritz Hansen armchair The Egg was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the entrance areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
This was Jacobsen's chance. Now he could put his theories into practice. The brief was to design the hotel building with all its details and furnishings.
Now an absolute classic and impossible to imagine without. Arne Jacobsen was the first to use a new technique to produce this chair. This consisted of a solid plastic shell with cold foam upholstery.

We offer the following fabric and leather qualities:
Christanshavn: 85% New Zealand wool, 15% polyamide
Rustik leather:
Naturally tanned, completely chrome-free aniline leather without protective varnish with light impregnation and visible natural characteristics. Becomes lighter in colour with use and acquires a patina. Thickness 1.2 - 1.4 mm.
Frame:
The plastic shell is upholstered with cold foam and sits on an aluminium base with a satin-polished column tube.
Mechanism:
The chair can be tilted and swivelled. You can optionally order the armchair with a return mechanism.
Due to its unique shape at the time, The Egg or the Egg Chair by Fritz Hansen provides private intimacy in an otherwise public space. The armchair by Arne Jacobsen, including footstool, is particularly suitable for the living room or lounge area.
