Cult shelf from 1932: Shelf Eiermann 200 cm Richard Lampert

Egon Eiermann designed this shelf in 1932 for the highly regarded Berlin exhibition (The Growing House). The idea was a design for a home that could grow with the family. Practical accessories can be ordered for the Eiermann shelf; a bookend and a magazine file keep things tidy. In the 200 cm long version, the tube spacing is an unusual 135 cm. The shelf is delivered with 5 shelves without cabinet.

Guarantor of great design: Egon Eiermann

Egon Eiermann (1904 to 1970) was a famous German architect and furniture designer, his ideas are still decisive for modern, timeless design. Many of his designs are still available today thanks to Richard Lampert. Eiermann was the first to develop mass-produced furniture after the Second World War that not only held its own in international design comparisons, but scored points. Whether table frames, shelves, tubular steel chairs or wicker armchairs: Eiermann's legacy is a great one.

Richard Lampert: Design made in Germany

In 1993, Richard Lampert founded his company in Stuttgart with the aim of industrially producing furniture and objects of daily use that combine quality craftsmanship, design standards and sustainability. Richard Lampert's collections cover a wide range of areas, from outdoor furniture to living space and office furniture. Well-known designers such as Egon Eiermann and Herbert Hirche stand alongside unconventional and lesser-known international designers.

Material and format

The frame of the Eiermann shelf is made of tubular steel with a diameter of 30 cm, the base is made of stainless steel, it is available in the colours white RAL 9010, black RAL 9005 or Basalt grey RAL 7012. The other steel parts are stainless steel. The shelf is available in heights of 200 cm, 238 cm or, on request, in special heights of 260 cm, 280 cm or 300 cm at extra cost. The five shelves are included in the delivery. The standard size for the shelves is 33 cm deep (30 cm deep for maple). You can order additional shelves with a depth of 33 cm or 45 cm (a maximum of 2 additional shelves is recommended ). A shelf with only 45 cm shelves is not possible due to the statics. The distance between the holes for the shelves is 12 cm. The ceiling bracing is only needed if the frame goes up to the ceiling. The ceiling bracing is only possible up to a room height of 280 cm. Please state your room height in the comment field when ordering. In addition, you can order a levelling kit to compensate for strong unevenness in the floor. The shelf is supplied with assembly material for the wall.

Information from the manufacturer:
If you load the shelf in the middle with a 50 kg weight (extremely high load), the shelves bend in the middle as follows:
  • the oak shelf approx. 6mm
  • the melamine shelf (chipboard) approx. 14 mm
These values only serve to illustrate the deflection of the different shelves in relation to each other; the shelves will never be subjected to such a high load. The oak floor only bends approx. 3 mm when loaded with full files over a length of 2 m. The oak floor is only approx. 6 mm thick.
