Wooden Doll Cat/Dog wooden dolls by Vitra
Not only for animal lovers - the lovingly designed cat and dog figures are the perfect decorative elements. Alexander Girard designed the Wooden Dolls in 1953 as decoration for his own house in Santa Fe. These originals are in the Vitra Design Museum and serve as the model for the new re-edition.
The hand-painting results in fine deviations that make each wooden figure a unique and individual specimen.
Alexander Girard
Alexander Girard is known as a formative figure in post-war American design. The American was born in 1907. Girard originally studied architecture, but in the course of his career he worked as a furniture, graphic, exhibition and interior designer. Textile design was a focal point of his work. Abstract, geometric forms and a variety of colour constellations are examples of his work.
Material and format
The Wooden Dolls are made of solid fir wood and lovingly hand-painted. They are delivered in a high-quality printed wooden box with a brochure.
They vary in size depending on the motif:
