Doshi Levien design studio
The Doshi Levien design studio was founded in London in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. Doshi grew up in India and studied at the National Institute of Design, while Jonathan, who comes from Scotland, trained as a carpenter and later as an industrial designer. They both met during their studies at the Royal College of Art. in 2008, they were honoured with the prestigious Future Legends of Design by the Cooper Hewitt National Museum of Design in New York. The two are a well-rehearsed team - while Doshi is mainly concerned with visual culture, an aesthetic understanding of the world and the materiality of things, Levien concentrates more on industrial precision and technology.
Material and format
The frame of the armchair is made of solid oak. The seat shell is upholstered with polyurethane foam and is available in different versions. It is 87.2 cm wide, 88.4 cm deep and 106 cm high. The seat height is 40 cm.
