Cheerful: Tip Ton chair from Vitra

Unmistakable in its cheerful shape - the all-plastic Tip Ton chair from Vitra. The design chair ensures an ergonomic seat thanks to a second, forward-leaning sitting position. The forward-leaning sitting position, which was previously reserved for mechanical office chairs, straightens the pelvis and spine and thus improves blood circulation in the abdominal and back muscles.

But not only that, the designer chair is also 100% recyclable - So you're doing something good for yourself and for the environment!

Design duo Barber & Osgerby

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby (both born in 1969) studied architecture and interior design together at the Royal College of Art in London. They founded their own architecture and design practice, Barber Osgerby, in 1996. Together they work at the interface of architecture, industrial and furniture design.

Material and format

 From January 2024, Vitra will be focussing on sustainability by making all seat shells for the Eames Plastic Chairs from recycled post-consumer plastic. The seat shells will have minimal glass fibre reinforcement for stability and quality, with the glass fibre content of an Eames Plastic Chair RE seat shell being 10%. The use of recycled packaging waste gives the seat shells minimal colour pigmentation. The colour white in Virgin Plastic is available until the end of 2024. The new Cotton White colour of the RE version is a natural white with the aforementioned pigmentation due to the manufacturing process and the chair is made entirely of polypropylene. It can be stacked up to four high on the floor and up to eleven high on a stacking trolley. The Tip Ton is 50.9 cm wide, 55.5 cm deep and 78.6 cm high. The chair is suitable for outdoor use.

Note: Special additives slow down the fading of the colours due to UV radiation. If the chair is exposed to the sun for a longer period of time, the colour may still change. We recommend not exposing the chair to the sun for longer than necessary.
