Enchanting light planet: stellar small pendant by pulpo
Inspired by his stellar one wall lamp, which captivates with varying glasses, structures and colours, Sebastian Herkner creates an enchanting light planet with the stellar small pendant lamp that conjures up a galactic glow in your room.
The structure of the mouth-blown glass shape looks like deep canyons on the surface of the moon and reveals a hemisphere full of curved ridges. Added to its smooth counterpart is frosted acetate that creates a warming glow. The dimmable LED light creates a cosy, soft atmosphere just the way you like it.
The small light planet, available in aubergine, smoky grey, white or transparent, offers the perfect blend of elegance and modernity and becomes an eye-catcher in your home.
Galactically beautiful
The stellar pendant collection sends hazy transparencies and rippled waves into your very own universe. Inspired by the intergalactic, Sebastian Herkner has used the repetition of patterns and geometric sensibility to create a collection that borders on the unidentified. Like watching the night sky through a telescope, stellar’s soft glow requires a closer look to fully appreciate the detailed surface in its beauty.
With varying glass and colours, Sebastian Herkner's stellar light planets create atmosphere through different patterns and structures. The glass of the pendant lights is frosted in one half and corrugated in the other, retaining its original surface.
Beauty, nature and craftsmanship
pulpo is a design editor for high-end products in the home sector – fascinated by the craft of the ceramic and glassblowing workshops and guided by the rough aesthetics of these unique pieces.
pulpo’s philosophy goes back to the idea of the “carte blanche”. The designers and artists develop their designs freely and experimentally. A variety of materials and a weakness for structures are clear strengths here.
The headquarters of pulpo is in Weil am Rhein, near the Swiss border. Consisting of the creative and sales department, warehouse and logistics, this is the think tank for their artists and designers. pulpo’s dealer network extends far beyond Weil am Rhein – from Iceland and Dubai to Australia.
Poetic compositions, refined shapes and delicate surfaces
This is what the name Sebastian Herkner stands for. The designer founded his Offenbach am Main based studio in 2006 and creates furniture, lighting and textiles, as well as spaces and installations – often combining contemporary techniques with traditional craftsmanship.
Without leaving out the importance of material and sensory beauty, the multifaceted designer follows a strong conceptional approach: “I transport and interpret characteristics from various contexts of society and culture, and implement them in new artefacts”, says Sebastian Herkner.
Repeatedly awarded, the designer teaches at the university, collaborates with fairs as well as museums, and works for some of the most prestigious design manufacturers of our time.
