Bendable: Split Chair by Tecta. The Tecta chair is a classic in a modern guise. The design chair could easily be created in the Bauhaus era, for example by design genius Mies van der Rohe. But what the Split is made of, or more precisely how the design chair was made, could not be more modern. 3D laser technology would not have been expected for a Tecta chair, right?
Material and size
The frame of the Tecta chair is made of chromed steel. There is also a padded leather seat belt, which is turned on the sides.
A removable back support is part of the Split chair. After all, it is definitely a bit more comfortable. Without back support your back would finally rest directly on the hard steel tube.
The Tecta chair is 56 cm wide, 45 cm deep and 68 cm high. The seat height is 46 cm, the armrest height 68 cm.
Design
The name of the Split Chair says it all. Indeed, the steel tube used is first split before it is bent. The development of the Split chair chair took seven years, mainly because you knew exactly what the chair should look like later, but it was not yet clear how it could be made. Completely new technologies were used for the Split Chair.
In 2011, Daniel Lorch exhibited his first prototype at the Milan Furniture Fair. Success proved him right. Some manufacturers wanted to produce the Split Chair immediately, but Tecta was chosen.
