The New York skyline is represented in grand style: the Guggenheim is the tower, the Flatiron Building is the knight, the Chrysler Building is an extremely powerful bishop, while the undeniable grandeur of the Empire State Building is the perfect queen and the impressive One World Trade Tower is the unmistakable king in this set.

London also represents a strong duelling force in the game - from the British terraced houses as pawns, Big Ben as a rook, the London Eye as a knight and the 30 St. Mary Axe as the bishop, the Shard as the queen and the Big Smoke as the king - London also represents a strong duelling force in the game.

Skyline Chess - Unique interpretations of a timeless game

The two London architects Chris Prosser and Ian Flood created Skyline Chess to pit architectural landmarks from around the world against each other, combining impeccable design and the art of play in an impressive setting. The idea was born during an evening game of chess and a lively discussion about how to position the architectural masterpieces.

Material and format

The chess set is a 32-piece set made of injection-moulded acrylic and the board is made of Italian Carrara marble. Also included is a presentation box for storage. The quality of the materials used and the attention to detail were decisive factors in the choice of this project, which clearly epitomises craftsmanship.

The game measures 38 cm in width and depth and 1 cm in height. The weight is 6.5 kg.
