Pure aesthetics: Sol Side Table by ClassiCon

Simple construction at first glance, complex designer furniture at second. With the Sol Side Table, the Spanish designer duo OrtegaGuijarro have created a design with an impressive wealth of facets. Sol plays with light and shadow, transparency and reflection as well as your own perspective. In this way, the different coloured-transparent glass plates of the table merge into ever-changing silhouettes.

By using glass as the only material, an aesthetic has been maintained that makes the Sol Side Table so fascinating and emphasises the beauty of the pure and balanced. Elegant sculpture or functional side table? With Sol, you have both at once.

Classic Contemporary Design

Good furniture is like a good friend, so they say. ClassiCon has made it its business to produce just this kind of furniture - and has been doing so since 1990, when ClassiCon emerged from the traditional Vereinigte Werkstätten in Munich. Owner and managing director Oliver Holy has had a lasting impact on the family-run business with his passion for design, architecture and art for almost 20 years now.

At ClassiCon, you will only find innovative furniture that expresses the courage to depart from familiar ground. Some of the pieces carry big names and a proud design history that goes back decades or even a whole century. Thus, designs by famous designers of classical modernism, including Eileen Gray, Eckart Muthesius and Otto Blümel, formed the cornerstone for today's collection.

Soon, furniture by contemporary designers, such as Sebastian Herkner, Neri & Hu, Konstantin Grcic and Jader Almeida, who are only at the beginning of writing their own big stories, followed. ClassiCon has thus intentionally created a suspenseful relationship between classics and contemporary design from the very beginning and continues to constantly expand its partner network. In this way, the company maintains an intensive exchange with international, often young and unknown designers.

Designer duo OrtegaGuijarro

Carlos Guijarro and Alex Ortega stand behind the design studio OrtegaGuijarro founded in 2017 in Barcelona. The two designers with a background in industrial and interior design have set themselves the goal to create individual and surprising everyday solutions with their work.

"Our work always aims to create a visual tension. You can think of it this way: most of our new ideas start out like a graphic game. In the process, every change, no matter how small, can give the design a completely different identity."

The trademark of their designs is clear and, at the same time, poetic aesthetics. On their way towards their goal, they always set out on a search for the perfect interface between curiosity, experimentation and technical innovation. The disciplines within they move comprise art and fashion as well as technology.

“Everything is inspiration, everyday life is full of details, forms and lines – you just have to find a good starting point.” - Alex Ortega
