Striking design: Shoemaker Chair™ no. 68 by Form & Refine
This special piece of designer furniture is pure history and craftsmanship! The original design of the Shoemaker Chair™ namely dates back to 1936 and can be traced to Odense in Denmark. In the 70s it was revised for the first time by the Werner family. The family runs a wood-turning mill that was founded in 1913 and is still family-owned today.
Classic 2.0
Over three generations, the Werner family has fine-tuned the shape of the chair, taken design and production to the next level and thus made the Shoemaker Chair™ what it is today: a true classic.
The seat in particular, with its anatomically shaped curves, ensures maximum comfort. The beautiful curves continue harmoniously in the chair legs, which embody aesthetic, Nordic design in conjunction with the stabilising T-connection
"We have worked tirelessly on optimising the early versions of the chair, adjusting minor things every year (...). Among other things, the T-connection between the legs was added for more stability and the seat was changed in shape and rounded - if the chair falls over, the round profile now prevents the edge of the seat from breaking." - Lars Werner
Material and format
The Shoemaker Chair™ is made from solid European woods in Denmark. Due to the naturally different wood grain, each Shoemaker Chair™ is unique. You can order the characteristic chair here in the shop in the variants beech white oiled, beech black stained, oiled oak, oak white oiled as well as smoked oak.
The seat measures 53.5 cm in width, 44.5 cm in depth and 68 cm in height
