New technology: Sheru chair with castors Walter Knoll
Sheru stands for shell in Japanese. And that is precisely what the design by Studio EOOS focuses on. It should be light and airy and is therefore hardly thicker than a yoga mat. But this does not detract from the seating comfort. Quite the opposite, in fact, because the Sheru uses innovative chAIR technology. The backrest and seat contain concealed openings through which cool air can circulate freely around the body, making the chair pleasantly breathable. Integrated straps in the shape of palm leaves create a pleasantly springy, novel seating sensation. In this way, the ergonomic reinterpretation ensures maximum comfort! The elegant minimalist design with its flowing forms and soft edges is suitable for a wide variety of living and working spaces.
Walter Knoll - furniture with history
The company's history finds its origins in a "leather shop" in Stuttgart, opened in 1865 by the forefather of the Knoll dynasty, Wilhelm Knoll. In the same year, the seating furniture manufacturer demonstrates his craftsmanship as a purveyor to the court of the King of Württemberg. Forty-two years pass before son Walter takes over the company together with his brother Willy. In the meantime, branches were opened in the metropolises of St. Petersburg and Vienna. To set himself apart from the design of his father's company, Walter Knoll founded his own upholstered furniture factory in 1925, which has borne his name ever since. In addition to leather, coloured fabrics were now also used as upholstery materials. In the 1920s, the invention of the anti-mot spring and the Prodomo system revolutionised the traditional upholstered furniture trade. The furniture of the Prodomo system in particular, with its curved tubular steel frames, was already pointing the way to modernity. Walter Knoll has been expanding steadily since 2001. In the last 10 years, the company has opened showrooms in Berlin, Hamburg, London, Paris, Stockholm, Beijing, Mumbai and Adelaide (Australia).
Material and format
The chair has a 5-leg cross with castors. It is 71.5 cm wide and deep, 84 cm high. The seat height is 47 cm, the seat depth 44 cm and the armrests are at a height of 70 cm.
You can choose from a variety of fabric and leather covers for the seat and back interior, which are also removable:
- Canto: 59% viscose, 24% cotton, 17% linen
- Canvas: 90% virgin wool, 10% nylon
- Gaia: 52% polyacrylic, 40% linen, 8% nylon
- Harald 2: 100% cotton
- Harald 3: 100% cotton
- Savannah: 44% linen, 21% cotton, 13% viscose, 11% virgin wool, 7% polyester, 4% polyacrylic
- Leather Select: pigmented leather
- Leather Rodeo-Soft: Semi aniline leather
- Cashmere leather: refined leather
- Leather Safari: refined aniline leather
- Torro leather: semi-aniline leather
- Leather Congress: Semi aniline leather

Notes:
With the casual upholstered look, a slight rippling of the cover may occur due to the construction and the stretching of the materials during use.
Please note that the oiled solid wood feet may contain sapwood, mirror surfaces as well as small intergrown point knots. Differences in colour and structure within a wooden foot are typical for the material.
