Unique: Sestiere vase H 26 cm from Cassina
Discover the Sestiere vase from Cassina - a masterpiece that combines Venetian glass art with modern design. Designed by Patricia Urquiola, each hand-blown vase reflects the rich tradition of Murano craftsmanship. The vibrant colours of the glass body harmonise perfectly with the hand-applied "Morise" cords, which are decorated with the typical "Rigadin" stripe pattern of the lagoon. This interplay gives the vase a unique graphic presence and makes each piece unmistakably one of a kind.
Design by Patricia Urquiola
Born in Spain, the designer now lives and works in Milan, where she graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic in 1989. She then worked as an assistant to Achille Castiglioni and was a member of staff at Studio De Padova, where she developed furniture together with Vico Magistretti. in 2001, Urquiola opened her own studio for product design, interior design and architecture. Her furniture designs are characterised by material diversity and colourful designs and adorn the product portfolios of renowned manufacturers, including Alessi, Driade, Flos, Gan, Kartell, Rosenthal and Verywood.
Cassina - a traditional Italian company
Founded in 1927 by two brothers, Cassina was already doing pioneering work shortly afterwards: the close collaboration between architects and designers from different fields led to revolutionary innovations in terms of materials and design language. Since then, the traditional company has become an integral part of the world of furniture design and continues to impress with a balanced combination of high-quality, natural materials, manual craftsmanship and advanced production methods.
Material and format
The vase is mouth-blown from Murano glass. The surrounding glass cords are attached to the vase by hand. The diameter of the sestiere is 27 cm. It is 26 cm high.
