Spare part: Seat spare part S32 / S 64 cantilever Thonet

Here you can get a replacement Seat for model S 32 and S 64 by Thonet, design Marcel Breuer.

The seat can be reordered with wickerwork without reinforcement under the seat in stained or varnished beech.

For ecological reasons, only water-based lacquer is used, which gives the wooden surface a silky matt sheen. This may result in a difference in gloss level and colour on older models. 

Please note for models built before 2003:
The two rear holes in the seat must be re-drilled. You will need a 3 mm wood drill for this.

Care instructions
Wipe the wickerwork regularly from both sides with a damp cloth to
maintain its elasticity - this is particularly advisable in dry or air-conditioned rooms.

Dryness over a long period of time makes the natural material brittle and susceptible to cracking.
Clean soiled areas with a damp cloth and soft soap. If threads come loose,
  these can be reattached with adhesive.

Note on the tubular mesh used

The cane mesh used is a natural product. This type of wickerwork is manufactured exclusively in the Far East and supplied to Thonet as rolled-up sheets. The wickerwork threads are peeled from the Rotang palm, which grows in East Asia, and glued together. As this is a natural product, the quality and width of the individual threads can vary. Areas that appear blunt are, for example, growth rings on the plant. Growing and harvesting conditions also influence the quality of the weave.

The production of furniture by Thonet is carried out with a high level of technical and manual effort in order to guarantee a corresponding level of quality. Every chair with a wickerwork covering is specially checked again before leaving the factory.

Please note: This item is a one-off. We sell unused items that are as good as new and have NO damage. These can be, for example, discontinued models, remaining stock or returned items. As the items are often only available in limited quantities, they are subject to prior sale. Like all designer bargains, individual items cannot be exchanged.
