The S 220 chair by Thonet is a material-efficient and stackable shaped wood chair with an ergonomic seat shell and a lightweight tubular steel frame. The design duo around Sam Hecht and Kim Colin adapted the shape of the chair from the iconic bentwood chairs 214 and 209. The S 220 convinces with its controlled, organic form and the precise lines made possible by the material moulded wood. Its flowing rounded front edge is also known as the "waterfall edge" in design jargon; it not only has an effect on the look, but also avoids pressure points when sitting, thus increasing seating comfort.

The chair is available with different frame and seat shell versions. It is 57 cm wide, 54 cm deep and 81 cm high. The seat height is 46 cm. The armrests are 70 cm high. The weight is 5 kg. The chair is stackable.
