With his extendable S 1072 dining table, Hamburg designer Glen Oliver Löw has proven that classic forms are anything but boring. The all-rounder simply fits wherever people come together.
The S 1072 model has a simple folding mechanism that allows you to fold out the integrated extension leaves with just one movement. This allows you to extend the table very quickly when spontaneous visitors arrive at the door.
Thonet - design furniture with a long tradition
Thonet from Frankenberg in northern Hesse is not only one of the oldest furniture manufacturers in the world - the company has always had a keen sense for forward-looking ideas. As early as 1859, the company's founder Michael Thonet tried to design a simple chair that could be manufactured industrially by bending beech wood. The result was the inimitable chair no. 14, also known as the Viennese coffee house chair. In the 1930s, Thonet was the main producer of the revolutionary Bauhaus tubular steel furniture designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Mart Stam or Marcel Breuer, among others. Today, Thonet is still authorised to produce these furniture classics. The company is currently working with many renowned designers from all over the world to expand its own collection.
Material and format
The S 1072 dining table by Thonet is 75 cm high. The tabletop is 100 cm wide and 200 cm long. With the extension leaves folded out, it can be extended to 290 cm.
The 30 mm thick tabletop consists of a coated chipboard with real wood veneer, ThonetDur® or solid wood and is supported by a sturdy tubular steel frame. With the help of the extensive configuration options, you can put together the table according to your wishes.
