Symbol of post-war design: The Revolt Chair chair by HAY

Together with Ahrend, HAY has reissued this design classic. The Revolt Chair was designed in 1953 by Friso Kramer, one of his most famous designs. In the post-war period it was a revolutionary choice of material, with a curved sheet steel frame instead of a traditional tubular frame.

Even today, this method is still used for the reproduction, ensuring the same unconditional functionality and durability as in the 1950s. New is the sustainable aspect - the seat and back of the chair are made of a mixture of recycled post-consumer and new ABS plastic. In addition, the chair is available in various color options.

The ergonomic and minimalist design of Hay's Revolt Chair makes it ideal for both private and business environments.

Friso Kramer - The first generation Dutch industrial designer

After studying interior design in Amsterdam, Friso Kramer worked for a renowned architectural firm for a while before starting to design furniture at Ahrend. In his creations he always manages to achieve great effects with minimalist forms and materials.

Hay - contemporary furniture from Denmark

Founded in 2002, the Danish manufacturer Hay pursues the goal of creating furniture that meets the needs of modern life and is accessible to the widest possible audience.
Inspired by the stable structures of architecture and the dynamic twists and turns of fashion, Hay combines the values of both industries and creates durable and appealing quality products.

Materials and form

Seat and back

The seat and backrest are made of injection molded ABS plastic, which is a mixture of recycled and virgin material. The chair is designed to be taken apart at the end of its life cycle.

Base

The four-legged frame of the Revolt Chair is made of powder-coated sheet steel and steel tubing, which has been cut out and bent to create an attractive design.
Included are plastic glides, which are suitable for most insensitive floors.

The chair measures 45.5cm in width, 49.5cm in depth and 81cm in height. The seat height is 46.5cm and the seat depth is 42.5cm.
