Emblematic of post-war design: the Revolt Chair from HAY
Together with Ahrend, HAY has reissued this design classic . The Revolt Chair was designed in 1953 by Friso Kramer, one of his most famous designs. It was a revolutionary choice of material in the post-war era, using a bent sheet steel frame instead of a traditional tubular frame.
This method is still used today, ensuring the same unconditional functionality and durability as in the 1950s. What is new, however, is the sustainable aspect - the seat and back of the chair are made from a mixture of recycled post-consumer and new ABS plastic and are also available in different colour options.
Thanks to its ergonomic and minimalist design, the Revolt Chair from Hay fits perfectly into both private and business spaces.
Friso Kramer - The Dutch industrial designer of the first generation
After studying interior design in Amsterdam, Friso Kramer worked for a renowned architecture firm for a while before he started designing furniture at Ahrend. In his creations, he always manages to achieve great effects with minimalist shapes and materials.
Hay - contemporary furniture from Denmark

Materials and shape
Seat and back
The seat and back are made of injection-moulded ABS plastic, which is a mixture of recycled and virgin material. The chair is also designed so that it can be dismantled at the end of its life cycle.
Frame
The Revolt Chair's four-legged frame is made of powder-coated sheet steel and tubular steel, which has been cut out and bent to create an attractive design.
Plastic glides are included, which are suitable for most hard-wearing floor coverings.
The chair measures 45.5cm in width, 49.5cm in depth and 81cm in height. The seat height is 46.5 cm and the seat depth is 42.5 cm.
