The small LCW armchair is one of the iconic designs by Charles and Ray Eames and dates from one of their early experiments with three-dimensional plywood moulding.
In many years of experiments, the two researched a process to adapt plywood to the shapes of the human body in the best possible way. The chairs of the Plywood Group are the result and they still look contemporary today and have thus become real classics.
Thanks to their pleasantly shaped plywood shells and the flexible backrest, they offer very good seating comfort.
By the way: LCW stands for Lounge Chair Wood.
Charles and Ray Eames - design duo
The Eames couple is one of the most important personalities in the field of design in the 20th century. In addition to designing furniture, the two also made films, took photographs and put together exhibitions. Vitra is the only legitimate manufacturer of the Eames products for Europe and the Middle East.
Material and format
The Lounge Chair Wood is made of veneered moulded plywood in ash or walnut. It is also available with a leather or Calfs Skin cover. The base is made of the same material as the back and seat. The seat and back sections are attached to the base with rubber-metal elements.
