Flexible workplace: PK52A student desk by Carl Hansen and Søn

Among the work desks, the PK52A is a true icon of Danish design. It originates from the design pen of Poul Kjærholm and was originally designed for the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in order to provide high-quality workstations for the lecturers and students there.

Here, Kjærholm was able to apply his expertise as a carpenter to and developed a new, flexible table structure that ideally combines steel and wood. Metal sleeves visually separate the materials to give the design a dynamic, light look. In addition, the work table has a reversible tabletop. So it is equipped for all requirements and occasions and can also be used wonderfully in the dining area.

Scandinavian craftsmanship: Poul Kjærholm

Poul Kjærholm was a trained carpenter and continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a special interest in various building materials, especially steel, which he regarded with the same artistic subtlety as other natural materials . In his designs, embellishments gave way to clarity and function. Although only temporarily active as a furniture designer, Kjærholm achieved global influence with his timeless designs of excellent craftsmanship.

Material and format

The PK52A is based on a frame of black powder-coated steel. For the reversible tabletop, you can choose from different versions in oak veneer or the also reversible laminate version in black/grey.

For extra storage space, the table can be configured with a drawer module made of solid oak. The colour is preset here - to match the selected tabletop - and is therefore either oiled oak or black oak.

The table measures W 141.5 x D 85 x H 72 cm. The drawer module measures 40 cm in width, 85 cm in depth and 9 cm in height .
