Ossidiana Espresso maker by Alessi. Most comparable espresso pots are aluminum-coloured, while Ossidiana is a true black beauty.
The design of the puristic Espresso pot is from the Sicilian architect Mario Trimarchi. The capacity of the Ossidiana espresso machine is also impressive: you can look forward to a maximum of three cups of espresso.
Material and size
The Ossidiana espresso machine by Alessi is made of high-quality cast aluminum. The handle and knob are made of thermoplastic resin (plastic). The filling quantity is 150 milliliters - or three cups. Ossidiana has a total height of 17.5 cm, the diameter is 8.5 cm. Good to know: since the main material is aluminum, the espresso machine is not suitable for induction cooking.
Percolation principle
An espresso maker should be part of any Italian household. And this is how it works: The water is filled into the lower part of the espresso pot and the coffee powder is placed on the sieve above. Due to the hot cooking plate pressure is build and the water shoots upwards. If you hear the obligatory hissing sound, you know: the coffee is ready!
