Delicately enveloped glow: oda small by pulpo

Smoky, mystical and definitely something special - that is oda by pulpo. The smallest luminaire in the oda series, oda small, is nevertheless a considerable size as a table luminaire. oda small is perfect as a luminaire on side tables, from where it emits its diffuse light.

The hand-blown glass body floats on a filigree black steel frame, which gives the lamp by pulpo a certain lightness. Choose between the timeless colour amber, smoky grey or white for the body. The frame of the white lamp is also available in white.

The scope of delivery includes a deco lamp, which gives the lamp a very special magic with its warm-white finish. This can be ordered on request. Of course, you can also use oda with any other suitable E14 bulb.

Industrially inspired

Creating a balloon full of light - that was Sebastian Herkner's ambition, and he has succeeded all along the line with the oda luminaire collection. A slender base embraces a bulbous shape. An industrial motif that is softened by the gentle curves of the mouth-blown glass.

Directly inspired by the photographed industrial monuments of the famous Düsseldorf Becher School, the table and floor lamps of the oda series reference the stilted shapes of silos, smelting furnaces and water towers of times gone by. A warm glow brings this industrially charged aesthetic into a softer interior. The result is a luminous homage to light that exudes cosiness and has since become a reference for contemporary lighting design.

Beauty, nature and craftsmanship

pulpo is a design editor for high-end products in the home sector – fascinated by the craft of the ceramic and glassblowing workshops and guided by the rough aesthetics of these unique pieces.

pulpo’s philosophy goes back to the idea of the “carte blanche”. The designers and artists develop their designs freely and experimentally. A variety of materials and a weakness for structures are clear strengths here.

The headquarters of pulpo is in Weil am Rhein, near the Swiss border. Consisting of the creative and sales department, warehouse and logistics, this is the think tank for their artists and designers. pulpo’s dealer network extends far beyond Weil am Rhein – from Iceland and Dubai to Australia.

Poetic compositions, refined shapes and delicate surfaces

This is what the name Sebastian Herkner stands for. The designer founded his Offenbach am Main based studio in 2006 and creates furniture, lighting and textiles, as well as spaces and installations – often combining contemporary techniques with traditional craftsmanship.

Without leaving out the importance of material and sensory beauty, the multifaceted designer follows a strong conceptional approach: “I transport and interpret characteristics from various contexts of society and culture, and implement them in new artefacts”, says Sebastian Herkner.

Repeatedly awarded, the designer teaches at the university, collaborates with fairs as well as museums, and works for some of the most prestigious design manufacturers of our time.
