The Ocean Chair has already become a design icon in Denmark and has triggered storms of enthusiasm, especially in sustainability circles. Now Mater brings the themes of design and recycling together in a perfect way in a larger seating option - namely with the Ocean Bench! Here, too, Ocean clearly stands for sustainable and innovative thinking.
The design
The Ocean collection is already one of the Danish design classics and is based on the original design by Jørgen & Nanna Ditzel from 1955. Nanna Ditzel was born in Copenhagen in 1923 and was a furniture, textile and jewellery designer. Many of her designs won awards, for example the Lunning Prize. Jørgen Ditzel was an architect and Nanna Ditzel's first husband. Together they were a real design dream team.
Material and format
What is the beautiful Ocean Bench made of? To a large extent, it's made of the unattractive stuff that floats around in the sea, such as discarded fishing nets and hard plastic. A whopping 3.2 kg of it goes into a single Ocean Bench! The frame is made of burnished steel.
The outdoor bench is 157 cm wide, 58 cm deep and 81 cm high. The seat height is a comfortable 46 cm, the armrests have a height of 67 cm. The beautifully shaped bench is available in black and in sand. If you don't have the will to decide, we recommend simply ordering both versions.
