Mushroom: Nessino table lamp from Artemide
Shaped like a large mushroom, the Nessino table lamp from Artemide is a very special sight. The table lamp is shaped in such a way that the light is diffused into the room. The interesting shape is created by using polycarbonate as the material.
Designer Giancarlo Mattioli
Giancarlo Mattioli from Bologna was born in 1933. He was particularly active in the 1950s and 60s. One of his most famous works is the Nesso table lamp. It is part of the MoMA collection in New York. In 1965, Mattioli was awarded first prize in the Studio Artemide Domus competition in Milan. Together with Pierluigi Cervellati, Umberto Maccaferri, Franco Morelli, Gianpaolo Mazzucato and Mario Zaffagnini, he founded the group Architetti Urbanisti "Città Nuova" in the 1960s.
