Timeless innovation: Model 2065 ceiling light from Astep
Designed in 1950 , this pendant light emphasises the innovative, experimental approach of Gino Sarfatti. At that time, glass was the favoured material in the lighting industry. When Gino Sarfatti received the first samples of methacrylate, a new polymer plastic that was much stronger and lighter than glass, in 1949/50, his experiments led him to a new pendant light, model 2065.
The luminaire was relaunched on the market by Astep in 2016. In continuation of the original idea, five LED lamps provide the lighting.
Astep - lights with generation
The Astep company was founded by Alessandro Sarfatti, the son of Riccardo Sarfatti, the founder of Luceplan and the grandson of Gino Sarfatti, the founder of Arteluce. The experience of three generations is now combined in the latest technology. At the same time, Astep stands for the admiration of timeless inventions. Both Arteluce and Luceplan have created one icon after another, luminaires of inimitable beauty. Astep now creates new products for the home - objects that give digital technologies a better place in our domestic lives.
