Finnish folklore: Midsummer Dream vase from Artek
If a girl collects seven wild flowers on Midsummer's Eve in June and places them under her pillow, she will dream of her future husband that night - at least according to Finnish folklore. The Midsummer Dream vase, inspired by this custom, certainly has room for seven flowers above the dreaming face of a young Finnish girl.
The small figurine is part of a series of seven handmade ceramic objects designed by COMPANY for the Artek FIN/JPN Friendship Collection.
Because 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan. As a typically Finnish company, Artek is using this anniversary to explore the relationship between the two countries and to creative collections with each other in creative collections.
