Successful design

At first glance, the Masters chair from Kartell impresses with its unique organic design. Masters - it's no coincidence that the designer chair bears this name.

As a Masters design, the chair combines striking design features of important designs by Arne Jacobsen, Charles & Eames and Eero Saarinen. Philippe Starck adopted the strikingly tapered armrests from Eero Saarinen's Tulip Chair armchair .

For the four filigree chair legs, Starck was inspired by Arne Jacobsen's Series 7 and the designer took the gentle curve of the seat shell from Charles & Ray Eames' Plastic Chairs.

This unique fusion was so well received in the design world that the chair, designed in 2010, was honoured with the Good Design Award in Chicago in the same year. The reddot Design Award was then added in 2013.

Kartell's signature

Kartell would not be Kartell if the Italian manufacturer did not have the Masters chair made of plastic. This not only gives the chair a visual and actual lightness, but also makes it a weatherproof garden chair.
