The story behind Vipp
Holger, I need a waste bin for my salon. Can you make me one?
This is how the exciting story of Vipp begins in 1939: Marie Axelsen asks her husband Holger Nielsen to make a waste bin for her hair salon. With his expertise as a locksmith, Holger Nielsen understands exactly what makes a high-quality tool. So he creates a unique waste bin for his wife and gives it the name Vipp, derived from the Danish word for "tip".
What started with a one-man workshop and a pedal bin by Holger Nielsen is today an independent Danish design company. Still family-owned, the company has not only developed a broad product portfolio with its own furniture creations, but also a design hotel concept and modular kitchen solutions. Since 2009, the famous pedal bin by Vipp can be found in the permanent collection of the MoMa in New York.
Homage to a special woman
Discover the limited edition Vipp pedal bin that pays homage to the inspirational woman behind Vipp's success, Marie Axelsen. Dressed in her favourite colour yellow, this iconic waste bin brings a touch of style and history to your home. Experience the fusion of functionality and aesthetics in this exclusive design object.
Without my mother's entrepreneurial thinking and promotion of the bin in her salon, Vipp would not be where it is today. So it's time we dedicated a Vipp collection to her - appropriately in her favourite colour, yellow.
