Santa & Cole - Clear lines, subtle colours, timeless elegance
The Spanish designer forge Santa & Cole was founded in 1985 by Javier Nieto Santa, Nina Masó and Gabriel Ordeig Cole in the industrial area La Roca in Barcelona. Santa & Cole 's mission is to sustainably improve people's everyday lives through outstanding design, functionality and quality. To this end, Santa & Cole wants to develop, summarise, protect and pass on knowledge about good design to interested people all over the world.
Santa & Cole is active in the most diverse areas. Besides the successful production of indoor and outdoor lamps and design furniture for the private sector, the Spanish company also takes care of the development of non-profit elements for public areas such as street lamps, litter bins or bicycle stands. Other branches of Santa & Cole are the production of an office collection for public authorities and furniture for large industrial customers, a book publishing house and its own tree nursery for the reforestation of urban areas.
Furniture and luminaires by Santa & Cole convince with their clear lines, discreet colours and high-quality materials. A warm light colour is very characteristic for the lamps, as well as the typical lampshades, which cover the lamp either conically or cylindrically shaped. Of course, the designers of Santa & Cole always reserve the right to vary this expressive stylistic device according to the overall aspect of the respective lamp.
In 1987, the Básica table lamp by designer Santiago Roqueta was the first to carry the melodious name Santa & Cole out into the world. Its minimalist structure made of birch wood, bronze or nickel and the typical lampshade already showed the typical style of Santa & Cole.
The striking shade is also found in the Tripode series, the famous three-legged lamps by Santa & Cole. Three thin tubes made of metal cross like Mikado sticks, crowned by an impressive round pleated shade. The Santa & Cole Tripode G5 floor lamp dates back to 1997 and is the most popular variant of the Tripode series.
