"A chair is not a world view"
- with this pragmatic and slightly provocative statement, Interstuhl's Interstuhl boss Werner Link clearly shows that he thinks little of philosophical considerations. His Swabian family business is deeply rooted in the traditions of craftsmanship. Now in its third generation, Interstuhl offers innovative seating solutions that are among the best on the world market. Why? Because they are designed in such a way that all the important elements of the working environment are optimally taken into account. Interstuhl products are not only exemplary in terms of ergonomics, design and quality - they are also highly customisable.
The history of Interstuhl
The Link family has a tradition of blacksmithing that dates back to 1731. in 1930, the blacksmith Wilhelm Link took over the village smithy in Tieringen. After the Second World War, his services are less and less in demand and he makes an important decision together with his son Werner Link: In 1960, the two of them began producing underframes for sewing machines. And because seamstresses sit at work, they soon added chairs to the range - and thus founded the company's success story.
The Interstuhl brand was launched in 1967, shortly before the first major expansion of the factory in 1969, when the company moved to its current location and built its first powder coating plant. The development of office swivel chairs now begins, and production is constantly expanded with new construction phases.
Today, Interstuhl is one of the world's largest and most successful manufacturers of office chairs. The successful products are supplied to all continents via subsidiaries and specialised dealers. Joachim and Helmut Link are now the third generation to run the Swabian company.
