Lightbringer: Lucia Candleholder by Artek
When the darkness spreads everywhere in deepest December, Lucia lightbringer triumphs over the night. In Finland, thousands of girls dress up as Lucia on a particular night and take part in a candlelight procession through the streets. They symbolize that even the smallest light can drive the darkness away.
Lucius is the small companion and part of a series of seven hand-made ceramic objects designed by COMPANY for the Artek FIN/JPN Friendship Collection.
Because 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan. Artek, as a typical Finnish company, uses this anniversary to explore the relationship between the two countries and combine them in creative collections.
