Limited Edition: Wooden armchair with armrests 119 MF Thonet

A light lounger - this is how Thonet itself describes the beautifully shaped wooden armchair 119 MF. The bentwood in combination with the trough seat symbolises the reduction to the essential ideals of the manufacturer. The design chair was created by Sebastian Herkner. In form, material and design, it is a typical Thonet chair that offers pleasant seating comfort thanks to its wide backrest and deep seat.

In this limited special edition, a true contrast to the simple Thonet design is created. As a pink dream with a cosy fabric, the chair convinces in a new design.

Thonet - more than 200 years of tradition

The Frankenberg-based manufacturer stands for durability and the irrepressible drive for innovation. Thonet was the first manufacturer to bring bentwood furniture onto the market and the first to sell tubular steel furniture. Michael Thonet founded his own workshop in Boppard am Rhein in 1819. In the 1830s he experimented with strips of veneer boiled in glue and is therefore regarded as the inventor of "furniture made of bent wood". in 1842, he was invited to Vienna by the Austrian state chancellor Prince Metternich and the coffee house culture there laid the foundation for Thonet's later success. Given this desire for innovation, it is not surprising that Thonet also cultivated links with the Bauhaus and Marcel Breuer. Thonet implemented Breuer's experiments with cold-bent tubular steel and produced the famous cantilever chairs.

Material and format

The chair is made of bentwood and a moulded plywood seat. This limited edition islacqueredin the special colour according to RAL 3015 light pink satin finish. The matching upholstered cushion of this version is made of the Kvadrat Argo 2 fabric in the colour 0633.
The 119 MF lounge chair measures 68 cm in width, 62 cm in depth and 77 cm in height. It has a seat height of 41 cm and weighs 7.2 kg.
