Balancing act: the white Kizu table lamp by New Works. The acryl lampshade seems to float on the marble base. The soft shapes give Kizu harmony and elegance. As already mentioned, the New Works designer light is made of marble and acryl. These seemingly contradictory materials are miraculously combined in Kizu.
The noble natural stone marble has been used for thousands of years. Some of the world's greatest artifacts are made of marble. The plastic acryl, on the other hand, is a relatively new material. The result looks great as proven with the Kizu table lamp both with its elegant look and illumination.
Designer
The design comes from the young Norwegian design talent Lars Tornoe. After graduating from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design in 2006, many of his designs were shown at numerous exhibitions around the world. Lars Tornoe was even voted Designer of the Year in Norway. His studio is located in Stavanger, in the south of Norway.
Maintenance
The Kizu table lamp from New Works looks extravagant, but it is quite uncomplicated to maintain. Marble is a natural stone that, despite its hard surface, reacts very sensitively with respect to acid. For cleaning, use only a soft dry or damp cloth. It goes without saying that the luminaire should be switched off beforehand.
