Airy lightness: Kami rice paper table lamp from Blomus
With Kami, Japanese for paper, the name says it all. The delicate lampshade made of fine rice paper creates a diffuse, soft light that bathes every room in a cosy ambience. Born in Japan in 1967, the award-winning designer studied under Shiro Kuramata and Issey Miyake and opened his own studio in Tokyo in 2000. Today, his work can be admired in permanent exhibitions in the world's most important museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

The German company Blomus, based in Sundern in North Rhine-Westphalia, was founded in 1961 and is primarily known for its tasteful home accessories. Authenticity is just as important to the family business as quality craftsmanship. As a result, each product has an unmistakable design signature. Even though very different materials are used, it is primarily stainless steel that has significantly characterised the appearance of the brand to this day.
