True to the original: Miniature Garden Chair (1820) by Vitra
The Prussian master builder Karl Friedrich Schinkel used the iron casting process to produce furniture rationally. His garden chair as miniature is a wonderful example and perfect for lovers of historical design.
Miniatures Collection by Vitra
The Vitra Design Museum houses around 7,000 pieces of furniture, over 1,000 lamps and numerous archives and estates of famous design greats such as Charles and Ray Eames, Verner Panton and Alexander Girard. This makes the collection one of the most important holdings of furniture design in the world. For more than 20 years now, the museum has been recreating the milestones of furniture design from its collection in miniature form.
The chairs are scaled down to one sixth of their size and modelled on the historical original down to the smallest detail, both in terms of construction, material and colouring. Even the natural grain of wood, the reproduction of the smallest screws or the most elaborate manufacturing methods are just like the original. Thus, the replicas of the Miniatures Collection by Vitra are popular collectors' items.
Material and format
The small miniature is 8 cm wide, 9 cm deep and 13.5 cm high. It comes in a printed wooden box and with a brochure.
