No frills at all: Fresnel wall and ceiling lamp by Oluce
The so-called Fresnel lens was originally developed for lighthouses. So it's no surprise that designer Joe Colombo's Fresnel wall and ceiling lamp retains its maritime origins - at least in terms of looks.
The lens is the focus of the design. It is enclosed by a metal body, where the practical support function is in the foreground and discreetly completes the light source. Unnecessary ornamentation has been dispensed with, and so the Fresnel luminaire fuses practicality with simple elegance.
Give your living spaces or outdoor areas a maritime look! For example, combine several Fresnel luminaires with each other to create light paths that illuminate rooms and paths. The luminaire is available in the regular and LED version. The metal body can be ordered in white, black, gray or chrome.
Visionary genius - Joe Colombo
Joe Colombo remains one of the greatest Italian designers of our time - a genius who firmly believed in an anti-nostalgic future in which intelligent technology would support every human activity and lay the foundations for entirely new models of living.
It's no surprise, then, that Colombo's architectural, furniture, and lighting designs were considered forward-thinking and particularly functional. His designs include, for example, the so-called "living cells", all with their own function, such as the "Night-Cell" block (bed+wardrobes+bathroom) or the "Kitchen-Box" (kitchen+dining room), and design classics, such as the spray-print chair for Kartell from 1968 or the Acrilica table lamp from 1962, which combined the use of new materials and new technologies.
In addition, the designer has created a variety of other lamps for Oluce, for example, the Colombo or the Coupé series. Even today, 50 years after his passing, many of his products continue to exist and inspire with the charm of the 60s and their forward-looking features.
Oluce - luminaire design Made in Italy
Founded in 1945 by Giuseppe Ostuni, Oluce is the oldest Italian design company still active in the lighting world. The product portfolio is characterized by excellence and innovation.
