Designer Bjørn Wiinblad
Bjørn Wiinblad was born in Copenhagen in 1918. He showed a distinct talent for inventing imaginative worlds and drawing at an early age. He first began an apprenticeship as a typographer at the age of 17, but quickly realised that his interest lay in an artistic career. After his apprenticeship, he went straight to the Royal Danish Academy of Art and chose the graphic arts department there. Wiinblad's style was anything but Danish, for where functionalism was en vogue at the time, the designer chose a more playful path with ruffled motifs, many colours and romantic universes. Thus, he also devoted himself to drawing on the ceramic for which he is known today. in 1957, Wiinblad became design director of the well-known German porcelain brand Rosenthal.
Material and Format
The planter is made of porcelain. The opening at the top has a diameter of 15.5 cm. The height is 14,5 cm. The planter is not suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher!
