Favorite chair: Eames Plastic Arm Chair LAR chair by Vitra
Time and again, the LAR can be seen in historic pictures of the legendary Eames House in Pacific Palisades. It seems to have been an absolute favorite of Charles and Ray Eames. No wonder, the lounge version of the Eames Plastic Chairs is also a truly multifunctional piece of design history.
In the pictures, the chair is shown both inside and outside, which illustrates how easy it is to place around. Its compact dimensions allow it to be used in small spaces, and the extensive color selection means the chair can be perfectly integrated into a variety of environments. The steel wire base has been nicknamed "Cat's Cradle". It forms a contrasting complement to the monochromatic seat shell.
Charles and Ray Eames - design duo
The Eames couple is one of the most important personalities in the field of design in the 20th century. In addition to designing furniture, the two also made films, photographed, and put together exhibitions. Vitra is the only legitimate manufacturer of the Eames products for Europe and the Middle East.
Material and format
The seat shell of the LAR is made of solid-colored polypropylene. The base is a wire base with struts, available in chrome or powder coated.
The LAR is 62.5 cm wide, 46 cm deep and 63.5 cm high. The seat height is 25.5 cm.
