The story behind the cult object
The Eames House by Charles and Ray Eames is decorated with numerous objects and accessories that the two brought back from their travels. The centrepiece is, among other things, the famous bird figurine. It is now over 50 years old and a treasured piece of American folk art.
Originally native to the picturesque mountain regions of the Appalachians in the northeast of the USA, the bird cast an extraordinary spell over Charles and Ray Eames. Fascinated by its grace and attraction, the Eames dedicated an honourable place to this extraordinary creature. Inspired by this bird figure, the famous Eames House Bird was created in collaboration with the Eames family at Vitra.

Material and format
The Eames House Bird bird figure is made of solid alder wood that has been skilfully stained to ensure an elegant appearance. Two graceful legs made of fine iron wire complete the masterpiece. But the centrepiece is undoubtedly the eyes, made of sparkling glass, which give the bird's face a touch of life.
The wood used comes from Western Europe and Poland. The figure is 27.6 cm high, 27.8 cm deep and 8.5 cm wide.
