Eames Coffee Table Square American walnut Vitra

Modernist: the Eames Coffee Table is made of American walnut by Vitra. The Eames Coffee Table is a re-edition of the classic from 1949. What you can gather right away when you look at the table is what good design accounts for in the end: timelessness. You do not see the age of the design table, in the American walnut version it still is very modern.

The table legs of the coffee table are made of solid black ash the struts are made of round steel. For the table top American walnut is used – solid and oiled.

The Designer

Charles and Ray Eames have shaped the design world like no other. Not only in terms of look,but also for the used materials. From the design of a leg splint made of deformed plywood furniture drafts followed like the Plywood Group LCW chair (available in our Onlineshop). Plywood was followed by plastic a real innovation at that time.

Award-worthy: 1940 Charles Eames won together with the Finnish designer Eero Saarinen the first prize at the competition „Organic Design in Home Furnishings“ of the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York.

Vitra

Without Eames no Vitra not in the form as of today. In 1957 the Swiss manufacturer from Birsfelden near Basel, implemented the designs of the American designer couple – the start of Vitra as a furniture manufacturer. The company is in family hands since its founding.
