A stable rocket not only for the bar: EA001 Rocket bar stool Artek

The design bar stool Rocket by Artek bears its name rightly: Eero Aarnio gave it the dynamic shape of a rocket. Nevertheless, the stool stands stable on three bulbous legs, which give it its very own character. Due to its size, it is well suited as a bar stool. Thanks to the small diameter of the seat, it is also extremely space-saving. The stool is available in the muted colours black and white as well as in untreated soaped oak. If you like it more gaudy, go for the red or blue version.

Innovative designer from Finland: Eero Aarnio

He has created such fantastic and witty furniture as the Bubble Chair, the world-famous design lamps Double Bubble and Swan and is a master of creative furniture design in general, an experimental material mixer. The Finn Eero Aarnio was not famous for wood until he designed this ingenious EA001 Rocket bar stool for Artek. But that changed abruptly when the Artek boss Tom Dixon discovered the Rocket bar stool, built for private use, in Aarnio's kitchen. The Baby Rocket wooden stool is also fantastically successful. Several of the Finn's works can be found in world-famous museums such as the MOMO in New York, the Victoria And Albert Museum in London or the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein.

Artek - always modern

Artek was founded in Helsinki in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl. With their designs, they wanted to promote a modern culture of living. The radical spirit of its founders still lives in Artek today and so the company produces furniture from the world of modern design that stands at the interface of design, architecture and art. They are characterised by clarity, functionality and poetic simplicity.
