Inimitable: The Drawn HM4 Chair with Armrests by &Tradition

The Drawn HM4 chair from &Tradition plays an important role in the design history of Denmark. Designed in 1956 by the duo Hvidt & Mølgaard, it is not only a great example of Nordic midcentury design, but also the expression of Scandinavian lifestyle par excellence. The elegance of the classic dining room chair is created by the high-quality natural materials that are shaped and processed in a handicraft process. Simple but sophisticated details such as the curved backrest or the seat made of paper mesh provide a harmonious overall picture and at the same time offer pleasant seating comfort.

A little tip: Discover the also in our store the narrower version HM3 without armrests. These can be perfectly combined with the HM4 chairs and add a wonderful component to Scandinavian furnishing styles.

Hvidt & Mølgaard - a Danish creative duo of the 20th century

The two founders of the well-known architecture and design studio were Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993). Their clear and precise furniture designs are symbolic of Danish modernism and the appreciation of traditional craftsmanship. Hvidt studied furniture making at the School of Arts and Crafts, while Mølgaard-Nielsen studied furniture design with Grandmaster Kaare Klint, the "father of the Danish furniture school", before opening their own studio in 1944. Today, their works can be admired in museums around the world - from the MoMA in New York to the National Gallery in Melbourne.
