Mid-Century Design

Created in 1953, the Ceramic Clocks can be classified as Mid-Century Design. During the American post-war modernism, George Nelson created various design products to bring modernity into private households. One design from this time are the Ceramic Clocks, which you can order online in three different versions.

Part of the collection are two organic clock designs, which have a pleasantly harmonious effect due to their rounded design and are available in white and ice grey. The last clock in the bunch is a bright yellow Ceramic Clock with a star-shaped white dial. What all three clocks have in common is the fact that they are made entirely of ceramic, except for the hands.

The best thing: All three table clocks can be excellently combined with each other or also staged as individual eye-catchers.

George Nelson for Vitra

The designer George Nelson, born in 1908, worked together with Vitra since 1957 and created numerous design products.

Why the Ceramic Clocks did not go into series production at that time is not known - luckily Vitra changes this in 2017 and produces the designer clocks according to the original design.
