Steam-bent beech wood gives the Czech chair its distinctive shape. It is particularly stable thanks to theframe, which isbent in onepiece and additionally supported by arched elements.
Viennese GTV Design - Design with Tradition
GTV stands for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH and looks back on a history of tradition. Michael Thonet was invited to Vienna in 1842 by Prince Metternich to manufacture his furniture. He founded the company "Gebrüder Thonet" in 1853, in which his children had a share. In the capital of the Habsburg Empire, Michael Thonet switched from laminated glue-laminated wood to steam-bent wooden rods, an industrial chemical and mechanical process that enabled the production of wooden furniture in large quantities.In 1976, the Austrian company changed its name from Gebrüder Thonet to the current name Gebrüder Thonet Vienna.All products of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH are distinguished by the new trademark Vienna GTV Design.
