Nordic modern: The CH24 Wishbone Chair by Carl Hansen & Søn in the Ilse Crawford colours

When developing the CH24, designer Hans J. Wegner designed the backrest and armrest in one piece. The characteristic Y-shaped backrest ensures stability and gives the Wishbone Chair its name. More than 100 work steps are required to produce this classic, most of which are carried out by hand. For the production of the hand-woven seat alone, an experienced craftsman needs around an hour to create a seat with impressive durability and stability from around 120 metres of paper cord.

Reinterpretation by the internationally recognised designer Ilse Crawford

With a timeless and modern colour palette, Crawford reinterprets Hans J. Wegner's classics and brings them into the 21st century in a new light. Century. The nine complex colours, inspired by the Danish artist Per Kirkeby, allude to the rugged beauty of the Nordic landscape and have been carefully selected by Crawford.

Material and format

The Wishbone Chair is 76 cm high, 55 cm wide and 51 cm deep. The seat height is 45 cm.

Carl Hansen only uses wood from sustainable forestry for its durable designer furniture , which is processed as environmentally friendly as possible. The frame, armrests and legs are therefore made of solid FSC®-certified beech wood to ensure stability.

The slightly transparent surface of the individual colours allows the grain of the beech wood used to shine through, creating a beautiful texture. The colours used are water-based and non-toxic.

The seats are finished with hand-woven paper cords using a special process.

Carl Hansen chair for free - discover the 3+1 promotion: Simply add four models to your shopping basket and receive the fourth chair free of charge. The offer is limited in time and only valid until 30.11.2024.

- NOTE: Due to the high-quality, handmade weave, one of the chair legs may appear shorter as the weave is very tightly bound. This will regulate itself after about a month of normal sitting when the weave loosens. -
