Calm sphere: Cesta outdoor table lamp from Santa & Cole
A large opal sphere in front of a glass factory was the inspiration for the Cesta table lamp by Santa & Cole during a walk through Barcelona in the 1960s. Designer Miguel Milá picked it up and made it the centrepiece of his design. Cesta is Spanish for basket, which perfectly describes the portable holder of the lamp. The shape of the lamp is reminiscent of traditional lanterns that can be found on houses along the coast or on open, light-coloured terraces. The basket-like wooden structure is made of fine cherry wood, which is handcrafted and assembled by artisans. Traditional steam bending techniques are used for this.
