Beautifully shaped: Ceramic Containers NO.2 Vitra
What was actually turned as a wooden model is now produced as handmade Ceramic Containers. Designer Alexander Girard designed the shapes, which are supposed to remind of apothecary jars, board game stones and hatter's tools, as early as 1952. They have lost nothing of their beauty since then.
Alexander Girard
Alexander Girard is known as a formative figure in post-war American design. The American was born in 1907. Girard originally studied architecture, but in the course of his career he worked as a furniture, graphic, exhibition and interior designer. Textile design was a focal point of his work. Abstract, geometric forms and a variety of colour constellations are examples of his work.
Material and format
The vessel is made of hand-dyed ceramic. It has a diameter of 14 cm and is 25 cm high.
