Homage to the Bauhaus: Centum wristwatch 010-01 by Walter Gropius

With the Centum watch collection, the Walter Gropius brand is celebrating 100 years of Bauhaus.

The anniversary design by designer Daniel Eltner makes a metaphorical reference to the architecture of the Bauhaus in Dessau with the double image of the letter C. The C not only stands for the term 'Centum' (Latin for hundred) and thus for the 100th anniversary. The concentrically arranged circular segments also create three open spaces on the clock face and thus symbolise the boundless openness and dialogue between the individual trades at the Bauhaus.

Perspective, space and time

The watch collections of the Bauhaus brand Walter Gropius celebrate the Bauhaus style in its purest form. They shine with their skilful interplay of minimalism and functionalism as well as a colourfulness true to Walter Gropius' saying: "Colourful is my favourite colour!".

The Bauhaus watch collections were created by designer Daniel Eltner. All his designs are based on the three basic shapes of the Bauhaus - square, triangle and circle - and play with the concepts of perspective, space and time.

Material and format

The Centum wristwatch is a quartz watch, type Citizen Miyota, calibre 2035. It is manufactured in Germany to the highest quality standards.

The silver-coloured case made of 100% stainless steel 316L has a diameter of 39 mm and is 9 mm high. The case back is screwed in. The dial with its unique Bauhaus design in the colours grey, black and white and the hands in the primary colours blue, yellow and red are protected by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

The watch has a silver-coloured pin buckle and a grey, 18 mm wide cowhide strap with easy-release function. It also has a water resistance of 50m/5bar.
