Named after the Betty Nansen Theatre in Copenhagen, built in 1857 and housed in a wooden pavilion, the Betty barstool is the result of a shared fascination. The design duo Thau and Kallio focused in the manufacturing process for the needs of each room for comfortable seating, regardless of its purpose. This is how the shapely and appealing Betty design stool came into being.
Design duo Thau & Kallio
The design duo around Jakob Thau and Sami Kallio is fascinated by materials and methods. Both share a great affinity for wood and the craftsmanship associated with it. Sami Kallio comes from Finland and grew up in Sweden. He is a trained carpenter and studied at the Gothenburg School of Design and Crafts. Jakob Thau was born in Sweden and grew up in Denmark. He is also a trained carpenter and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
Material and format
The bar stool consists of lacquered solid wood and moulded veneer as well as a seat made of natural linen weave. It is 76 cm high and 40 cm wide and deep.
