Description
Inspired: The Betty TK1 Chair by &Tradition
This special chair is named after the traditional Betty Nansen Theatre in the western centre of Copenhagen - an extraordinary building that was run by actress Betty Nansen from 1917 to 1943 and originally consisted of a simple wooden construction.Thau & Kallio wanted to create an elegant seat inspired by the wooden pavilion that housed the old theatre stage. The solid wooden frame of Betty is at the same time the frame for the wide linen bands, which are woven by hand into a robust and comfortable seat. The result is a chair that can be used in any room of the house and sets modern accents.Thau & Kallio - design and craftsmanship
What unites the Swede Jakob Thau and the Finn Sami Kallio? The two designers not only have degrees from renowned Scandinavian design colleges, but are also trained carpenters. This understanding of materials and their craftsmanship is clearly visible in Thau & Kallio's designs. At the same time, they succeed in placing classic forms in a contemporary context. Wood is and always will be their material of choice. Despite extraordinary details, they always reach a broad audience with their designs.Material and format
